What is a Contract Cadet?

A contracted cadet is a student who has entered a contract and committed to completing the Basic and Advanced Courses of Army ROTC, and attending Advanced Camp for Cadet Summer Training at Fort Knox, typically during the summer between their junior and senior year. Upon graduation, contracted cadets were commissioned into the United States Army as Second Lieutenants, either in Active Duty, in the National Guard, or in the Reserves.

How to Get a Contract

To receive a contract, you must be either be a National Scholarship winner or a non-scholarship student and checked off the following:

  • Be enrolled in Army ROTC
  • Be in good physical health
  • Passed the Army Combat Fitness Test
  • Maintain a 2.0 minimum cumulative GPA (2.5 for National Scholarship)
  • Complete at least 30 Credits
  • Maintain a high-level of attendance to all Army ROTC events
  • Volunteer on a regular basis for Army ROTC-based events
